Mouse’s right button

In AutoCAD’s case, it was very common to use the right mouse button to execute the same command again. In Microstation’s case is widely used to reset a command equivalent to the esc key in AutoCAD.

But, since AutoCAD 2000 contextual dialog box allows other options, it is questionable whether it is better.

For this, both programs have implemented that option dialog box can be activated in a sensitive way, meaning that it always be used for a particular function but can be also invoked the contextual picture.

With Microstation.

When we use for the first time the program, the first time that we do right click ask us if we hope to use the button to reset command or to activate the dialog box (this is with XM or V8i versions). Custom makes us to use the first option, but we may never know how to get back.

This is resolved in this way:

Workspace > preferences > Input.

There we have several options; among them you can see the reset command can be activated with the esc key, for those who miss AutoCAD with third rib.

Now, if what we want is to always enable the dialog box with the right mouse button then select:

Reset Pop-up Menu with the Clic alternative

If we want that this will remain to reset the command, then choose the alternative Press and hold. After this, select from down panel how long deal to activate, this runs with the bar, and instead of doing so with thousands of a second that no one can imagine, this is made in proportion to 60 parts of a second. So if you run up to 15 will be still a quarter of a second.

And ready, if I apply right click, it resets me the command, if I apply right click but pressing without releasing, it appears to me the dialog box with the most common commands or the context of the command to use.

With AutoCAD

Being using Civil 3D makes it difficult to find Tools> options, so you can type the command as in the older days: options and then press enter.

The same can be set; nothing more than here time is in milliseconds.
